I use Drupal to share information in a variety of forms without the arbitrary size constraints of conventional hosting providers such as flickr.
- images with annotations using file upload and image Annotate (and lots of bug fixing)
- video from popular hosting providers using embedded media module
- videos I host using swftools
- syntax-colored programming language source code
- academic papers using the biblio module
- links using weblink
- Rich media, spell checked blogs using tinymce and input filters
- Sounds using swtools
- Book info for reviews
- Product info for reviews using Amazon store
- ambient findability tools with uploads to twitter etc.
- Guitar Chords for "Chord of the Day" with guitar chord module
Note that I don't use Image, Video, or Sound modules: they have been in beta for so long it is a bad joke. Also the basic idea is flawed. I use drupal to contextualize these media so CCK and designing my own nodes is much more effective.
