It makes MAX an ideal environment for rapid experiments in the application of adaptive techniques to musical problems. Networks in MAX were programmed to recognize gestures from a MIDI keyboard, a Zeta MIDI guitar, a radio drum, and Lightning. In one experiment, a network issued messages to synchronize MIDI guitar motives with images from a HyperMedia work. Configurations and musical applications of the networks are also discussed.
